About The Position

This role involves working on London insurance market energy and property claims that pertain to Texas law and/or Insureds. The position requires researching London Market claims, jurisdiction, and the legal implications of insurance policies, particularly those involving Texas law but subject to unique London Market practices. It also includes researching Texas law and jurisdictional issues for large claims with international parties, and applying London market policies under Texas law for property insurance claims. The attorney will provide legal advice, assistance, and representation on Texas law and Texas-based insured property claims to gain exposure to the Texas legal system and apply these learnings to London market-specific work. Responsibilities include determining relevant arbitration clauses and substantive law jurisdictions, meeting with clients to explain legal implications and facilitate claim resolution, strategizing with clients, insurers, and insureds for timely claim resolution, attending continuing education, marketing to existing and new London market insurance clients regarding expanded offerings in Dallas, and training other Dallas and US-based attorneys on the London insurance market.

Requirements

Juris Doctor (J.D.) or foreign equivalent
2 years of experience as an attorney in the global insurance market
U.K. Solicitor’s Practicing Certificate
Admission to Texas Bar or ability to become admitted within 12 months of hire
2 years of legal experience with London Insurance Market
2 years of legal experience with Property Insurance Matters
2 years of legal experience with Energy Insurance

Responsibilities

Work on London insurance market energy and property claims involving Texas law and/or Insureds.
Research London Market claims, jurisdiction, and legal implications of insurance policies, especially those involving Texas law and unique London Market practice.
Research Texas law and jurisdictional issues for large claims, including those with international parties.
Research and apply London market policies under Texas law regarding property insurance claims.
Provide legal advice, assistance, and representation on Texas law and Texas-based insured property claims.
Determine insurance policies’ relevant arbitration clauses and substantive law jurisdictions.
Meet with clients to explain legal implications and facilitate claim resolution.
Strategize with the client, insurer, and insured to pursue policy claims reasonably and timely.
Attend continuing education presentations.
Market to existing London market insurance clients concerning expanded offerings in Dallas and market to new clients.
Train and assist other Dallas and US based attorneys in the peculiarities of the London insurance market.
