About The Position

The firm is seeking a full-time Associate Attorney to join its consumer protection practice in Ohio. The role involves a broad range of transactional and civil litigation matters concerning consumer protection, including work with clients who have been harassed or deceived by creditors and debt collectors. The attorney will handle a heavy and varied caseload and communicate with the firm’s New York headquarters exclusively by telephone and electronic means, such as email and Microsoft Teams. The position is based from home, with travel required for court appearances. Candidates must currently be located in or around the Toledo, Ohio area.

Requirements

Currently admitted to practice law in Ohio.
At least 1 year of relevant experience at a law firm.
Superior organizational and time-management skills to meet strict deadlines.
Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
Highest ethical standards and professional integrity.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work easily with senior management and employees at all levels throughout the organization.
Strong legal research skills.
Currently located in or around the Toledo, Ohio area.

Responsibilities

Maintain and supervise a heavy, diversified caseload of the firm’s clients in Ohio.
Communicate with clients regarding their matters.
Draft pleadings, motions, and legal memoranda, and review and draft agreements.
Communicate with opposing parties to resolve or settle claims.
Conduct legal research on simple and complex issues in contract law and other areas of consumer law.
Travel for in-court appearances.
Communicate with the firm’s main office by telephone and electronic means.
