About The Position

Segal McCambridge is seeking an experienced Associate Attorney to join its General Liability Defense Practice Group in its Austin, Texas office. The practice handles a broad range of complex civil defense matters, including trucking and transportation, premises liability, product liability, construction litigation, toxic tort and asbestos, and other general liability matters.

This role offers substantial litigation responsibility, hands-on case management, and the opportunity to work closely with respected trial lawyers in a collaborative, mentorship-driven environment. The position has a hybrid work schedule, with increased in-office collaboration expected during onboarding and development and additional flexibility as attorneys progress within the firm. Associates receive meaningful responsibility, courtroom and client exposure, mentorship, and professional development support.

Requirements

• Active license to practice law in Texas.
• At least 3 years of experience defending civil litigation matters.
• Strong legal research, writing, motion practice, and discovery skills.
• Experience taking and defending depositions and managing key litigation responsibilities.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and time-management skills.
• A proactive, solution-oriented mindset and desire to grow within the firm.

Nice To Haves

• Experience handling trucking or transportation, premises liability, product liability, toxic tort or asbestos, or general liability defense matters.

Responsibilities

• Manage a litigation caseload with partner guidance and mentorship.
• Draft and argue motions, conduct depositions, and manage written discovery.
• Appear in court and participate in trials and trial preparation.
• Defend clients in trucking, premises liability, product liability, toxic tort and asbestos, and other general liability matters.
• Work directly with sophisticated clients on complex, high-exposure litigation.
