About The Position

The firm is a consumer protection law firm headquartered in New York City, representing consumers who have been harassed or deceived by creditors and debt collectors. It is seeking a full-time Associate Attorney to join its practice in Kansas. The position involves a broad range of consumer protection legal issues, including transactional and civil litigation matters. Although based from home, the attorney will communicate with the New York main office exclusively by telephone and electronic means and must travel for court appearances. Candidates must reside in Kansas.

Requirements

Currently admitted to practice law in Kansas.
At least 1 year of relevant experience at a law firm.
Superior organizational and time-management skills to meet strict deadlines.
Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
Highest ethical standards and professional integrity.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with senior management and employees at all levels throughout the organization.
Strong legal research skills.
Willingness to take on a heavy workload.
Must reside in Kansas.

Responsibilities

Maintain and supervise a heavy, diversified caseload of the firm’s clients in Kansas.
Communicate with clients regarding their matters.
Draft pleadings, motions, and legal memoranda; review and draft agreements.
Communicate with opposing parties to resolve or settle claims.
Conduct legal research on simple and complex issues in contract law and other areas of consumer law.
Travel for in-court appearances.
