About The Position

Burnham Law is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Associate Attorney to join their team. The ideal candidate will have experience in either domestic relations or civil litigation, with criminal law experience strongly preferred. This role requires strong legal writing, communication, advocacy, and case management skills, as well as the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced legal environment. The successful candidate will handle client communication, draft, conduct legal research, appear in court, and support all phases of the process while helping the firm maintain its high standard of client representation.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of experience practicing law
  • Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school
  • Active license to practice law in Colorado
  • Experience in either domestic relations or civil litigation
  • Criminal law experience strongly preferred
  • Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills
  • Excellent communication and client service skills
  • Ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines
  • Professional, organized, and detail-oriented
  • Comfortable appearing in court and interacting with clients
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Nice To Haves

  • Proficient with legal research tools (Westlaw)
  • Proficient with case management software (Filevine)
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office

Responsibilities

  • Represent clients in domestic relations, civil litigation, and/or criminal matters
  • Draft pleadings, motions, discovery requests, responses, correspondence, and other legal documents
  • Conduct legal research and prepare case strategies
  • Communicate professionally with clients, opposing counsel, court staff, and other parties
  • Attend hearings, conferences, mediations, depositions, and other court-related proceedings
  • Manage case deadlines, filings, and documentation
  • Assist with discovery, trial preparation, negotiations, and settlement discussions
  • Maintain a high level of professionalism, confidentiality, and ethical conduct
  • Work collaboratively with attorneys and staff to provide excellent client representation
