Requirements

  • Experience representing secured creditors in consumer Chapter 7, 11, and 13 bankruptcy cases
  • Working knowledge of the Bankruptcy Code and Federal Rules of Bankruptcy Procedure
  • License to practice law in New York
  • Admitted to District and/or Bankruptcy Courts in NY
  • Knowledge of bankruptcy rules/laws and general Creditor Rights laws
  • Computer Literacy
  • Professionalism
  • Keyboard Skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Time Management
  • Communication Skills

Responsibilities

  • Primarily manages bankruptcy routine matters
  • Draft and review all pleadings and claims filed in the particular matter
  • Attends scheduled hearings
  • Responds to general firm wide bankruptcy inquiries
  • Review filings on behalf of the clients
  • Monitoring of all electronic filings (ECFs)
  • Resolving routine bankruptcy matters such as Motions for Relief, Objections to Confirmation, Proofs of claim, etc.
  • Regular communication with the client, opposing counsel and the Court
