About The Position

Qualcomm is looking for a junior attorney to join our growing Data Legal team. This role is an excellent opportunity for an early-career attorney who wants hands-on exposure to global data protection and security, privacy, and related regulatory compliance in a fast‑paced and technology‑driven international environment with highly diversified business offerings. You will work closely with experienced legal attorneys not only in data legal, but also across other legal specialties including but not limited to product legal, procurement legal, M&A, AI legal, marketing legal, and employment legal, as well as with cross-functional business partners such as our engineering and business teams. In this role, you will learn and contribute to the design and execution of scalable data legal compliance programs, legal reviews and other compliance initiatives across our diversified products, services, and global operations.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctorate degree or international equivalent.
  • Active bar license to practice law in the state or jurisdiction where the employee will be practicing (or ability to obtain upon hiring).

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or legal-related field.
  • 2+ years of experience at a law firm or in-house advising on global data and privacy protection laws, conducting contract reviews, data and privacy impact assessments, and executing compliance programs using tools such as OneTrust.
  • Experience with data and privacy legal issues in telecommunications, IoT, or SaaS industries.
  • Familiarity with major global data protection legal frameworks (e.g., US, EU, China).
  • Experience working cross‑functionally with business and engineering teams and translating legal requirements into practical guidance.
  • Comfort advising in data legal areas where regulatory requirements are rapidly evolving and may involve ambiguity or uncertainty.
  • Strong ability to manage multiple workflows and deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Excellent organizational and execution skills, with strong attention to detail while maintaining a practical perspective.
  • A collaborative team player who enjoys working cross-functionally with partners who may not have a legal background.
  • Strong business acumen and an enablement-oriented mindset.
  • Strong interest in data and privacy legal work, with a continuous learning mindset to keep pace with technology and regulation development.

Responsibilities

  • Support Global Data & Privacy Compliance Programs: Assist in designing, operating, and evolving scalable data legal compliance programs in response to ongoing legal and regulatory developments worldwide. Help embed privacy and data protection considerations into relevant workflows (e.g., product development, engineering, R&D, procurement). Support continuous improvement of privacy practices through documentation and cross‑functional collaboration.
  • Execute Data and Privacy Legal Reviews: Manage and coordinate data legal and privacy‑related review processes covering Qualcomm’s internal tools and systems, product and service launches, and periodic compliance checks for higher-risk business units. Manage the compliance mechanism of Data Subject Requests (DSRs) to ensure prompt and accurate response in accordance with legal requirements.
  • Policies, Documentation & Certifications: Help draft, update, and maintain internal and external privacy policies, notices, and guidelines. Manage privacy‑related certifications and registrations, including data transfer frameworks and jurisdiction‑specific requirements.
  • Contract & Inquiry Support: Support privacy and data protection aspects of vendor and customer contracts. Assist in responding to customer audits and regulatory inquiries.
  • M&A and Integration Support: Support legal due diligence efforts for mergers and acquisitions. Assist acquired entities by aligning and/or integrating their data practices with Qualcomm group standards.
