About The Position

Rowan University, a NCAA Division III member of the New Jersey Athletic Conference, is accepting applications for Associate Athletic Director of Sports Performance. Reporting to the Director of Athletics, this role is charged with providing executive leadership for sports medicine, rehabilitation and preventive care, strength and conditioning, nutrition, mental health and operational support for medical and clinical care for all student-athletes.

Requirements

  • Certified by the NATA BOC, NC Athletic Training Licensure, and familiarity with NCAA governing rules are required.
  • Demonstrates ability and willingness to work as a team member and to work independently
  • Problem-solver with initiative and follow-through skills; tact, diplomacy, and judgement in dealing with students, parents, faculty, and administrators.

Nice To Haves

  • Doctorate or master’s degree preferred with 10+ years of experience in collegiate athletics
  • CPR/AED/First Aid Instructor certification preferred.
  • Highly organized and proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to demonstrate flexibility and work with various campus and community programs/partners
  • Flexible schedule includes occasional evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities

  • Provide executive oversight of the sports medicine department that includes personnel, budget, operational, and student-athlete management.
  • Work closely and provide leadership to the Director of Strength and Conditioning, ensuring systems, policies, and plans are aligned for peak performance and a healthy return to competition.
  • Provide executive leadership and coordination of a comprehensive nutritional and mental health program working alongside university departments and the Director of Strength and Conditioning that will properly support all student-athletes.
  • Develop and maintain systems to monitor units’ fiscal health, personnel performance, and system efficiencies to ensure all key performance indicators are operating.
  • Serve as the department’s senior women’s administrator (SWA)
  • Serve on the senior management team and help shape key strategic, budgetary, and personnel decisions.
  • Attend NJAC meetings and retreats; Represent the department at select regional and national committees.
  • Provide advocacy and equity for all student-athletes
  • Facilitate monthly and/or quarterly meetings with unit leaders to discuss strategies, implement, and monitor key performance indicators that advance the department.
  • Ensure compliance with NCAA, conference, OSHA, HIPAA, FERPA, state licensure, and Board of Certification (BOC) standards.
  • Assist in developing and implementing departmental risk management initiatives.
  • Maintain all required certifications, licenses, and continuing education requirements.
  • Demonstrate and lead expectations for safe practices during practices, competitions, strength and conditioning activities, and team travel.
