About The Position

Contribute to the mission of the Athletics Department by participating in all areas of service delivery, with a special focus on student athletes and professionals within the Athletic Department. Duties of the position include short-term individual, group, and couples therapy; psychological assessment; crisis intervention; consultation; outreach and psychoeducational workshops (sometimes after hours); clinical supervision and training; case management as needed; liaison/consultant relationships with university partners. This position will focus on student-athletes and professionals within the Athletic Department, including: Provide clinical services to student-athletes, while also coordinating their connection with the comprehensive services of the Counseling Center (e.g. Individual or Group Therapy, Eating Concerns Treatment Team, Referral Coordination, and Daytime/After-Hours Emergency Services), as well as other resources on and off campus. Build collaborative relationships and provide consultation and mental-health related education for coaches, athletic trainers, and Athletic Department staff. Provide or arrange workshops for student-athletes related to mental health topics as requested. Serve as an active member of the Athletics Health Care Providers Team. Provide performance enhancement services to students and teams.

Requirements

  • Doctorate in Counseling or Clinical Psychology, or related field, or Master’s Degree in Counseling, Social Work, or related field, and eligibility for appropriate licensure in North Carolina.
  • The successful candidate will be expected to obtain licensure in North Carolina within one year of start date and maintain licensure for the continuation of the appointment.
