About The Position

Position Title: Physical Education Teacher (PK3–8) With Option for Combined Role of Athletic Director Reports To: Principal FLSA Status: Exempt Work Schedule: 32 hours per week (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday) Location: Indialantic, FL Applicants may apply for one or more of the following roles separately or combined: Physical Education Teacher (32 hours/week = M, T, Th, F) Athletic Director (15–20 hours/week) Site Director (Hourly / Event-Based) COMBINED ROLE OPTIONS Qualified candidates may apply for one or more roles , with schedules and compensation structured separately according to each role. The Physical Education Teacher is responsible to provide an appropriate educational atmosphere which encourages positive student learning and to participate in a dynamic setting with other classroom teachers, administrators, curriculum specialists and other staff members in the development and implementation of the school’s mission, programs and goals. The Physical Education Teacher provides developmentally appropriate physical education instruction for students in PK3 through 8th grade , aligned with Florida Physical Education Standards , while promoting physical fitness, safety, teamwork, and sportsmanship. Athletic Director Role: (apply separately) The Athletic Director will lead and administer the school’s athletic program for elementary and middle school, including scheduling, communication, and supervision of athletic activities. Site Director Role: (apply separately) The Site Director supports the athletic program by hosting and supervising athletic events held on campus under the direction of the Athletic Director and Catholic Youth Sports. Diagnoses and analyzes for the purpose of providing appropriate instruction. Utilizes a variety of instructional techniques to meet the individual needs of students. Assesses student progress in accordance with approved procedures of the Diocese of Orlando. Utilizes classroom management techniques conducive to an effective learning environment. Maintains accurate student academic and attendance records. Maintains a safe, orderly, and secure learning environment. Participates in the Diocesan Catechist Certification Program and school-sponsored professional development. Maintains professional relationships with parents and staff. Performs all tasks in accordance with Diocesan Catholic Schools policies. Performs other duties as assigned by the principal. WORKING CONDITIONS / PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Work is performed indoors and outdoors on school campus. Requires standing, walking, lifting sports equipment, and supervising students in the gym or on the field. Requirements

  • Catholic Faith Requires an appreciation and respect for the Catholic Church and its teachings. Employees must conduct themselves in a manner consistent with the mission and purpose of the Church.
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university acceptable for Florida certification in physical education or other related major, preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university from any major is also accepted, but must apply to take the Alternate Path to Education courses indicated in the Statement of Eligibility issued by the Florida Department of Education once hired.
  • Must apply for a Temporary Certificate within 1 year of hire.
  • Must hold or obtain a Professional Certificate within three (5) years of hire.
  • Must hold or obtain Faith Fit Enrichment Certification Levels 1, 2, and 3 within three (3) years.
