About The Position

Penn State Intercollegiate Athletics, a Division I and Big Ten Conference Institution, is seeking an Associate and a Assistant Coach for the Men’s and Women's Swimming and Diving program. The Associate/Assistant Coaches are responsible to the Head Coach for assisting in all aspects of the Men's and Women's Swimming program. This includes recruiting, coaching, developing, motivating, and evaluating academically and athletically qualified student athletes in compliance with NCAA, Big 10, and Penn State University policies and procedures. The role also involves ensuring compliance with administrative processes for team travel, recruiting travel, budget, and student-athlete eligibility and academic progress. Additionally, the position will participate in alumni relations, fundraising, community service efforts, and assist in coordinating with Communications staff for media and web-based materials. A commitment to the University and Department mission statements, including Penn State Intercollegiate Athletics' vision to prepare students for a lifetime of impact, is required.

Requirements

  • Requires six years of Division 1 related coaching experience.
  • Bachelor's Degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience accepted.
  • PA State Police Criminal Background Check.
  • PA Child Abuse History Clearance Form.
  • Federal (FBI) Fingerprint Criminal Background Check.
  • Credit history check.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Successful completion of a motor vehicle records check.

Responsibilities

  • Recruiting, coaching, developing, motivating, and evaluating academically and athletically qualified student athletes all in compliance with NCAA, Big 10, and Penn State University policies and procedures.

  • Participating in fundraising and community service efforts, as appropriate and assigned.
  • Assisting in the coordination with appropriate Communications staff to provide pertinent information to media outlets and in preparing related web-based and written materials.
