About The Position

Saab Inc. in Grayling, MI, is seeking an experienced Assembler Level 1 to join our Manufacturing and Production team. This role involves working from written or verbal instructions to create initial layouts and accurately assemble products. The Assembler will also be responsible for disassembling, modifying, reworking, and reassembling production and prototype assemblies and subassemblies in accordance with specifications. A key aspect of this role is applying problem-solving techniques to troubleshoot issues and support production objectives. Additionally, the Assembler must understand and adhere to ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) control procedures and safeguarding requirements, as well as Explosive Safety control procedures and safeguarding requirements. This position may require operating equipment including forklifts, automotive lifts, ladders, lifting platforms, and cranes.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma
  • Ability to read and interpret work instructions, assembly drawings, and technical documentation.
  • Ability to work with materials ranging from small, intricate components to larger, heavier parts.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Applicants selected may be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
  • Candidates will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screen.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment with multiple team members on production or assembly lines.
  • Background in automotive mechanics, mechanical assembly, or related field operating automated equipment and an understanding of mechanical assembly processes and manufacturing workflow.
  • Knowledge with tools, equipment, software, and related technologies.
  • Working/handling of munitions or other hazardous materials.
