Job Purpose: The Associate Art Director leads the visual expression of BritBox across brand and title marketing design, shaping a cohesive and strategically grounded creative standard that fuels cultural relevance, subscriber growth, and brand love. Blending conceptual thinking with elevated design craft, this role oversees the development of key art, campaign systems, and themed collections from initial brief through final execution, ensuring every deliverable is both visually compelling and meticulously produced. Partnering closely with cross-functional teams including Paid Media, Press, Editorial, Lifecycle, and Product, you’ll translate business objectives and audience insight into bold, scalable creative design solutions.

Requirements

  • Relevant professional design experience
  • Entertainment/streaming industry background preferred; Experience in brand design for a subscription streaming service (SVOD/AVOD/FAST) or major entertainment app.
  • A strong design portfolio, showcasing both range and polish - ideally within Entertainment and outside
  • Manager experience growing talent, pushing and developing design skills and collaboration
  • Proven presentation skills, both in-person and via video conferencing software
  • Expertise in Adobe Creative Suite. Mastery of Photoshop, InDesign, Acrobat and Illustrator.
  • Expertise in Figma.
  • Expertise in presentation deck design across G Slides, PowerPoint and Keynote.
  • Deep knowledge of digital formats and printing processes
  • Rich understanding of typography, photography and color theory
  • Motion design skills in Adobe After Effects is preferred
  • Exceptional collaborator with experience working alongside producers, video editors, designers, copywriters, and marketing executives.
  • Someone who lives and breathes TV marketing and understands how audiences discover new shows.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the BritBox design team through strategically sound and visually impactful creative solutions.
  • Break new creative ground and drive excellence in key art, themed collections, and brand campaigns.
  • Manage, coach, and support BritBox’s extraordinary internal design team.
  • Strengthen, clarify, and enforce the BritBox brand visual system across all marketing touchpoints. Ensuring artwork reflects a modern British sensibility.
  • Provide clear, actionable feedback to internal and external designers on work in progress. Grow a culture of feedback and ‘collaborative optimization.’
  • Identify and onboard design agencies and freelance talent to expand capabilities and capacity.
  • Present often to internal/external stakeholders and marketing leadership. Be adept at grounding design decisions in strong strategic rationale while explaining those choices in relatable ‘layman’s’ terms.
  • Ensure ‘through the line’ design projects begin with a concept-led approach and are finished with meticulous execution.
  • Collaborate with production on assigning briefs, and redirect as necessary, to maximize impact and team growth.
  • Align the right design talent to the right brief, ensuring work stays on time and on budget.
  • Partner cross-functionally to bring ideas to life across teams, including Press, Social, Paid Media, Creative, Editorial, and Lifecycle, to ensure strategic alignment across simultaneous campaigns.
  • Collaborate with the product design team, sharing assets and feedback within Figma.
  • Be a superb collaborator, translating creative feedback into solutions and obstacles into opportunities. Foster a ‘one team’ mindset in which critique makes the work - and the creator - stronger.
