About The Position

The Associate Art Director of Toys will lead by example to inspire and encourage the toy design team. Responsibilities include creative project management and art direction of toy concepts and packaging from concept approval stage through production. This role also requires working closely with design, marketing, executive management, and licensing partners to find unified solutions while maintaining the integrity of Paramount brands. An extensive knowledge of the toy industry along with a great design sense and a multitasking attitude are essential for producing high quality innovative toys that make tough little consumers smile.

Requirements

Minimum of 5-7 years progressive responsibility creating toy products of entertainment or educational based properties
Proficient knowledge of Photoshop, Illustrator etc., and other software that aids collaboration with licensing partners
Robust ideation sketching skills
Extraordinary creativity and feeling for toy design and development
A kid at heart sensibility
Great eye for 3D design and style with emphasis on fabrication and fit
Knowledge of common manufacturing processes for toys
Ability to envision toy lines for new brands
Capable of translating characters from 2D animation to 3D products
Experience with entertainment based licensed products
Solid written, oral and communication/presentation skills

Nice To Haves

Bachelor’s degree in a creative field or toy design preferred

Responsibilities

Manages the creative product approval process for all toy partners
Determines if product and graphic materials are aesthetically and conceptually appropriate for the properties sensibilities/program
Supervises and directs 2D and 3D designers
In charge of the performance, development and evaluation of the creative toy team
Provides creative direction and guidance to licensees to develop innovative toys that support the core of the brand, achieve business objectives, excite the trade, and connect with consumers
Works with the Paramount LOBs in creating and executing internal toy ideas and other materials to fulfill their business needs
Manage and inspire designers with their day-to-day work
Seek out new and innovative design styles that enhance and extend the life of all Paramount properties
Stay current in design trends and new technology
