Associate Application Developer - Network Automation

The Infrastructure, Platforms & Operations portfolio supports the strategic direction and product delivery for System IT infrastructure and operations, as well as the alignment of technology to business strategies. The team serves as the business partner for secure and reliable IT products, services, and operations. We are seeking an Associate Application Developer to join our team in developing network automation applications for the Federal Reserve System. In this role, you will apply DevOps methodologies and CI/CD practices to build self-healing infrastructure applications that minimize manual operations across our enterprise network and security platforms.
Requirements
- Proficiency in Python (required)
- Experience with additional programming languages applicable to automation application development
- Understanding of network and security infrastructure components including switches, routers, and firewalls
- Experience with policy-based and software-defined networking automation applications
- Knowledge of network orchestration principles
- Hands-on experience with mature CI/CD processes and tools
- Familiarity with automated testing frameworks and methodologies
- Understanding of deployment standards and release management procedures for infrastructure automation applications
- Ability to develop and implement application-based metrics for infrastructure health monitoring
- Willingness to learn monitoring and alerting tools and concepts
- Focus on stability and performance optimization
- Experience working in agile development environments
- Strong ability to translate complex technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders
- Proven track record of effective collaboration across distributed development teams
- Intellectually curious with a passion for exploring new technologies and methodologies
- Hungry to learn and continuously develop skills in network automation, infrastructure, and emerging DevOps practices
- Self-motivated to seek out learning opportunities and tackle new technical challenges
- Enthusiastic about staying ahead of industry trends and best practices
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or related field
- All applicants must have resided in the United States for at least three (3) years.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and implement network automation applications that enable self-healing infrastructure capabilities
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines to automate deployment and operations of network and security platform applications
- Reduce manual operational overhead through intelligent application development across the Federal Reserve System's infrastructure
- Develop and monitor infrastructure health metrics through custom applications to optimize network performance and stability
- Collaborate with cross-functional agile teams to deliver robust automation applications
- Stay current with emerging technologies and continuously expand technical expertise in network automation and infrastructure development
