About The Position

Build Android experiences that make a meaningful difference. As an Associate Android Developer, you’ll help create high-quality features for Resmed’s myAir application, used by customers at scale. Based in San Diego, you’ll join the newly formed Lumen team and work closely with product managers, designers, backend engineers, and mobile developers to turn ideas into reliable Android experiences. This opportunity is ideal if you are early in your career and eager to grow your Android expertise while contributing to a collaborative product team. Requirements

  • Experience developing Android applications using modern Android development practices.
  • Proficiency in Kotlin preferred, or experience with Java.
  • Understanding of Android architecture patterns such as MVVM or a similar approach.
  • Knowledge of RESTful APIs and networking.
  • Understanding of concurrency and asynchronous programming, including coroutines and flows.
  • Familiarity with the Android application lifecycle and performance considerations.
  • Familiarity with Git-based version control workflows.
  • Android experience gained through professional work, internships, academic work, or personal projects.
  • A genuine interest in mobile development and a willingness to continue learning.

Nice To Haves

  • A Bachelor’s degree.
  • One to three years of relevant Android development experience.
  • Experience with Jetpack Compose, Android testing, CI/CD pipelines, Agile or Scrum environments, Bluetooth or device integrations, or backend-connected mobile applications.

Responsibilities

  • Develop Android application features using Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, and modern Android architecture patterns such as MVVM.
  • Collaborate with Product, Design, Backend, and Mobile Engineering partners to design and deliver new product features.
  • Write clean, maintainable, and testable code using established engineering practices.
  • Participate in code reviews, sprint planning, and technical discussions.
  • Identify and resolve production issues, performance bottlenecks, and application crashes.
  • Improve application architecture, reliability, and maintainability.
  • Create and maintain unit tests and automated tests that support application quality.
  • Contribute as the Android developer within a cross-functional team, with access to mentorship, pairing, and broader mobile engineering support.
