About The Position

New York Life Investment Management (NYLIM) is seeking an experienced sales professional to join their team as an In-Market Internal Wholesaler. This role is a hybrid position, requiring one day per month in the office, and is based in Minnesota. The position combines in-person meetings with financial advisors and traditional internal wholesaling responsibilities. The goal is to drive sales, strengthen advisor relationships, and support the growth of the territory by acting as a consultative partner, providing market insights, portfolio solutions, and business growth strategies.

Requirements

  • Must reside in Minnesota and be able to travel as needed.
  • At least 2 years of experience in asset management sales or as a Financial Advisor.
  • FINRA Series 7 & 63 licenses are required.
  • Passionate about financial markets, investments, and ongoing learning.
  • Curious mindset with strong questioning skills to uncover advisor needs.
  • Driven to become a key partner to advisors through knowledge, service, and strategy.
  • Skilled in executing sales strategies, tracking results, and adjusting to market trends.
  • Proven track record of sales success and strong advisor relationships.
  • Able to maintain a dedicated, productive work-from-home environment.
  • Solid understanding of investments including mutual funds, ETFs, SMAs, and capital markets.
  • Strong presentation, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Self-starter who works well independently and with an External Wholesaler.
  • Willing to travel to the NYC home office at most two times per year.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, or a related field is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Build and manage relationships with financial advisors through in-person meetings, phone outreach, and virtual interactions.
  • Execute and support your External Wholesaler in creating and implementing strategic sales plans for the territory.
  • Educate and advise financial advisors on investment solutions, including mutual funds, ETFs, and SMAs, while providing asset allocation insights.
  • Stay ahead of economic trends, product innovations, and industry shifts to provide relevant insights that elevate advisor conversations.
  • Engage in a consultative sales approach by asking the right questions, uncovering advisor needs, and delivering tailored solutions that drive meaningful engagement.
  • Deliver value-add solutions by equipping advisors with actionable ideas, industry best practices, and tools that help them grow their business and better serve their clients.
  • Expand and deepen territory growth by identifying new business opportunities and strengthening existing client relationships.
  • Position yourself as a go-to resource by consistently delivering insights, sharing thought leadership, and fostering long-term partnerships.
  • Maintain and optimize CRM data and sales tracking systems to ensure efficiency and proactive engagement.
  • Coordinate and contribute to the planning of conferences, seminars, and advisor meetings to maximize market engagement.
  • Uphold a structured, distraction-free work environment at home, ensuring high productivity.
