About The Position

Tenet Healthcare Corporation is a diversified healthcare services company with an expansive care network. Westover Hills Baptist Hospital, a campus of the Baptist Health System in San Antonio, is a 300,000 square foot, full-service community hospital offering emergency, inpatient, and procedural services. The hospital features a dedicated women's services floor, 92 patient beds, 6 ORs, 2 Cath Labs, special procedure suites, and an 18-bed emergency department. The Associate Administrator is responsible for developing management objectives and policies for various departments, monitoring results, and interpreting objectives, policies, and procedures. This role coordinates activities of assigned departments with other departments within and outside the hospital, resolves problems with department heads concerning resource use, and maintains open communication with employee groups, medical personnel, patients, and their families.

Requirements

A minimum of three years of progressively responsible hospital management experience.
Ability to act as liaison between the administrative and medical staff, Board of Directors, and external stakeholders.
Ability to provide leadership to establish priorities and to develop and implement solutions.
Highly developed expertise in quantitative analysis to support definition and advancement for the hospital’s goals and objectives.
Ability to understand physicians’ viewpoints and needs and work strategically in the best interest of patients and the hospital.

Responsibilities

Evaluating the performance of various departments, as well as the performance of key managers and supervisors.
Advising employees promptly when performance problems arise or changes are needed.
Establishing operating budgets for various departments and monitoring performance against budgets.
Assisting Administration with special projects and with short- and long-term strategic planning.
Attending promptly to the administrative details of the position including the signing of documents, preparation of reports, completion of performance appraisals, and other employee-related actions.
Ensuring that all operations within the scope of the position are carried out in an ethical, responsible manner.
Developing, with the help of responsible department heads, standard operating procedures for the departments within the position’s span of control.
Coordinating with other departments and medical staff as needed.
Making final hiring and firing decisions of personnel within immediate scope of operations coordinating information with upper management and human resources according to established procedures.
