About The Position

This role requires associates to be in-office 1 - 2 days per week, fostering collaboration and connectivity, while providing flexibility to support productivity and work-life balance. Alternate locations may be considered if candidates reside within a commuting distance from an office. The Associate Actuary is responsible for completing the most diverse and complicated projects and performing highly complex actuarial studies.

Requirements

  • Requires a BA/BS degree and minimum of 4 years related experience; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.
  • ASA required from the Society of Actuaries (SOA)

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced Excel Skills including model development, validation and performance assessment is preferred.
  • Experience working with clinical staff for new program development and performance monitoring is preferred.
  • Strong database programming capabilities (e.g., SQL, SAS, or similar tools) for data extraction, transformation, and analysis is preferred
  • Effective communicator with the ability to translate complex analytical insights into actionable recommendations for business partners, clinical staff, and corporate finance is preferred
  • Comfortable with using AI tools to enhance work product is preferred
  • Experience or willingness to collaborate with finance partners to enhance financial analysis, reporting, and decision-making is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Performs key actuarial functions including new product pricing, evaluation of the impact of new legislation, flexible benefit consulting, and special projects.
  • Designs and completes special projects such as developing and maintaining experience-rating formulae and creating and/or reviewing alternative settlement formulate and risk sharing models.
  • Responsible for recommendations on pricing, marketing, product design, claims, premium and enrollment administration of business unit.
  • Responsible for valuation support for business unit by interpreting financial results, variances from forecast to help identify product and segment behavior to assist in the risk management of the business unit.
