About The Position

Alternative Markets is looking for an Associate Actuary/Senior Associate Actuary. Job title and salary will depend on the applicant's experience level. Great American's culture is built on connection, shared learning, and strong relationships. Employees in this role are expected to be on-site four days a week (Tuesday-Thursday) in the Cincinnati, OH office, with the flexibility to work one day remotely. Alternative Markets specializes in mono-line and/or multi-line primary programs on either a traditional guaranteed cost (Specialty Programs) or risk-sharing basis (Agency, Association or Group Captives), focusing on niche programs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics or a related field.
  • Generally, a minimum of 4-7 years of actuarial experience.
  • Has attained an Associateship and typically is completing additional coursework toward Fellowship in the Casualty Actuarial Society (FCAS).
  • Experienced in the development of rates, pricing strategies, reserve estimates, and/or predictive models.
  • Advanced analytical skills with the ability to use data to inform decisions.
  • Demonstrates excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States without the need for current or future sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

  • Completing additional coursework toward Fellowship in the Casualty Actuarial Society (FCAS).

Responsibilities

  • Evaluates pricing and profitability for individual business segments.
  • Analyzes excess layer pricing and profitability of captive contracts; manages captive collateral requirements.
  • Performs due diligence analyses for new business opportunities and provides feasibility recommendations.
  • Initiates and performs research to identify trends, issues, and actionable insights.
  • Produces clear and concise actuarial reports that effectively communicate findings and recommendations.
  • Collaborates with underwriting, marketing, and product teams to provide actuarial support.
  • Participates in cross-functional projects and contributes actuarial expertise.
  • May have responsibility for performance and coaching of staff and may have a participatory role in decisions regarding talent selection, development, and performance management for direct reports.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
