About The Position

The Associate Accountant provides comprehensive support for the continual improvement of day-to-day operations, with a focus on meeting deadlines and supporting financial closing and reporting responsibilities. The successful candidate has a strong knowledge of accounting principles, strong interpersonal skills, initiative, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively. The role may interact with Tyson team members across the organization and with vendors and customers. The position is on first shift and involves more than one trip per year. Relocation assistance is eligible. Candidates must be able to perform the physical requirements of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, or experience commensurate with the knowledge typically acquired through a four-year degree.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Standard computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).
Ability to work independently or in a team environment.
Good judgment in completing tasks.
Ability to set priorities and coordinate with others.
Willingness and ability to perform the physical requirements of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Six-plus months of work experience is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

Follow up on collections for aged accounts.
Assist with weekly and monthly close processes.
Perform balance sheet account reconciliations.
Amortize prepays.
Manage and retain documents.
Assist with ad hoc management reports and projects as they arise.
Use approved AI tools responsibly, safeguard sensitive information, follow company policies, validate AI-generated outputs, and apply professional judgment.
