About The Position

The Associate Account Manager contributes to fostering sales development in a territory made up of small to midsize accounts. While focusing on learning the key fundamentals of an Account Manager, the Account Representative focuses on sustaining and deepening partnerships within existing accounts, increasing our customer base by engaging with key accounts to expand our community presence and by partnering with retail stores. Has the mission to utilize Airgas’s sales directives and guidelines in order to service existing accounts, facilitate purchasing decisions , and welcome new accounts. Has the mission to develop and strengthen Airgas’s customer relationships by traveling throughout assigned territory to meet with customers as well as maintaining consistent contact via phone. Prepares sales proposals by quoting pricing, credit terms, and estimated dates of delivery based on knowledge of Airgas’s production/delivery schedules and software programs. Maintains market awareness by gathering current relevant marketplace information including trends in pricing, products, new releases, and merchandising techniques. Assists in resolving customer concerns by understanding client challenges , developing collaborative solutions, preparing summaries, and sharing recommendations with management. Develops in the key areas of sales, customer service, welding/gas product application, and problem solving. Learns to adapt the content of sales presentations: by deepening knowledge of the products and volumes used by customers/prospects depending on industry factors, by demonstrating products and highlighting benefits for the client , or by explaining types of gases and their uses. Maintains and submits sales updates (daily call updates, weekly work plans, and monthly and annual territory analyses) as requested by the District Manager (DM). May provide support for counter sales in a back-up capacity. Special projects and other duties as assigned to support the team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Reliable transportation, current driver's license , minimum liability insurance as required by state of vehicle registration.
  • Comfort and familiarity with computer applications, including Google Workspace and Microsoft Office.
  • A minimum of 6 months of prior outside sales/service experience.
  • Excellent organizational, written and oral communication , and presentation skills that utilize current technology.
  • Demonstrated experience using a consultative sales approach providing multiple layers of value to a customer to establish a mix of sales solutions and products.
  • Frequent local travel (75% of work time).
  • Proactive and self-motivated ; operates with a results-oriented focus; ability to work and thrive in an autonomous and team-oriented environment.
