About The Position

HireAbility in the Department of Disabilities, Aging and Independent Living (DAIL) seeks an Assistive Technology (AT) Consultant to join our team. This grant funded position will be responsible for providing Assistive Technology Consultations for statewide clients of the HireAbility Vermont Career Advancement Project. The AT Consultant will work with the client and Career Counselor to understand the client's education and career goals along with the challenges presented by their disability(ies). Using this information and the latest research in AT, the AT Consultant will assess and recommend Assistive Technology that can help the client to achieve their goals. Fidgets to support concentration? Smart Pens to facilitate note taking? iPad applications to make textbooks and other materials accessible? These are just some of the ways you can help enable HireAbility clients to achieve success. While many consults can be performed remotely, state-wide travel is required. This position will work independently but also be highly collaborative, interfacing with Career Counselors and clients across the state as well as working as part of a diverse and dynamic team of AT professionals in the Vermont Assistive Technology Program who all share a passion and vision for improving the lives of Vermonters through assistive technology. A commitment to continuous learning in the trends and advancements in assistive technology is required.
