About The Position

Assists the Health Services Director with directing the day-to-day functions of nursing policies, practices and procedures which reflect person centered care, evidence-based practice and current rules and regulations. This may include, but is not limited to, scheduling staff and/or work assignments, conducting rounds, providing direct patient care, handling difficult residents or employee situations in the absence of the Health Services Director. Ensures that direct nursing care is provided by a professional, licensed or certified nursing staff. Provides leadership to nursing staff assigned to the unit/shift. Models, teaches and utilizes effective communication skills such as active listening, giving meaningful feedback, communicating ideas clearly, dealing with emotional behavior, conflict resolution and understanding the role of diversity in communication. Recognizes one’s own and others’ attitudes, values and expectations about aging and their impact on care of older adults and their families.

Requirements

  • Must possess, as a minimum, a Nursing Degree from an accredited college or university or be a graduate of an approved LPN program.
  • Must possess a current active license to practice as an LPN in this state.
  • Previous experience as a supervisor in a hospital, long-term care community or other related health care facility.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous geriatric nursing experience desired.
