Under the general direction of the Zoning Manager, the Assistant Zoning Manager performs advanced professional, technical, and supervisory work in administering and enforcing the City's Code of Ordinances, including the Land Development Regulations (LDR) and other applicable regulations governing land development and use. The position assists in managing the City's zoning review process by overseeing the review of complex and routine zoning applications, building permits, and business tax and licensing submissions to ensure compliance with applicable regulations. The Assistant Zoning Manager supervises Zoning Officers and Zoning Technicians, providing leadership, guidance, and oversight to support efficient operations and high-quality customer service. The position works closely with applicants, property owners, residents, City staff, and land development professionals to provide technical guidance, interpret zoning regulations, resolve complex issues, conduct field inspections, and exercise sound professional judgement in the application of zoning requirements. The Assistant Zoning Manager also serves as the Department's liaison to advisory boards, delivers presentations at public meetings, and completes special projects as assigned. This position will also serve as the City's Certified Floodplain Manager, administering the City's floodplain management program.
