2026-2027 Coach - Assistant Wrestling - BMS
About The Position
Montgomery County Public Schools in Virginia is hiring an Assistant Wrestling Coach at Blacksburg Middle School for the 2026–2027 school year. Under the direction of the Athletic Director and/or Principal, the coach plans and implements a high-quality athletic program emphasizing fundamentals, teamwork, sportsmanship, and athlete safety. The coach also supports high academic standards by monitoring team members’ academic performance to ensure eligibility requirements are met. This is a supplemental coaching assignment for a designated athletic season, not a separate salaried position. Compensation is provided according to the School Board-approved athletic supplement schedule. The designated season runs from October 13, 2026, through January 20, 2027; compensation may be prorated if the coach starts late, leaves or is removed before the season ends, or otherwise does not complete the assignment. Appointment does not guarantee appointment or reappointment to a coaching assignment in a later season or school year. The schedule depends on the sport and may include practices, competitions, tournaments, meetings, travel, and other activities before or after the regular school day, in the evenings, on weekends, and during school holidays or breaks when scheduled and permitted by the VHSL. Regular and predictable on-site attendance is required.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Must be at least 21 years old.
- Successful completion of the Virginia High School League (VHSL) required courses.
- Ability to communicate effectively with parents, students, and school administrators.
- Ability to motivate students.
- Dependable and punctual.
- Regular and predictable on-site attendance is required.
Nice To Haves
- Previous experience as a coach or participation in the sport at the high school or college level.
- Current CPR certification.
