About The Position

The Assistant Wrestling Coach supports, leads, and supervises the wrestling team at Benton Harbor High School. The coach works closely with the Varsity Wrestling Coach, other coaching staff, and school administration to promote physical fitness, teamwork, and sportsmanship. This is a stipend position hired through the third-party vendor EDUStaff. Performance is evaluated by the Athletic Director and Varsity Wrestling Coach. The job description notes that its listed duties are not exhaustive and additional duties may be assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma.
• At least high school participation in wrestling.
• Experience coaching wrestling.
• Ability to work with students.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Varsity Wrestling Coach in coordinating and supervising the wrestling program.
• Promote physical fitness, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
• Assist with designing and implementing training programs, conditioning activities, and competition strategies.
• Help organize and supervise practices and meets to ensure the program is properly managed.
• Instruct and guide student-athletes in wrestling fundamentals, techniques, and strategies.
• Support development of student-athletes’ skills, discipline, and teamwork.
• Ensure athletic activities conform to the BHAS Athletic Handbook and follow applicable MHSAA rules, policies, and guidelines.
• Communicate effectively with school district and community members.
• Work with booster clubs and other community organizations, if applicable.
• Respond productively to change and handle other tasks as assigned.
• Ensure student-athletes follow training rules, grade policies, and behavioral expectations.
• Continuously supervise student-athletes during practices, meets, conditioning, and in locker and shower rooms.
• Promote safe wrestling techniques and appropriate conditioning practices.
• Help maintain wrestling equipment and ensure practice and competition areas are safe.
• Keep up with new information, ideas, and techniques.
• Support the value of education.
• Perform other duties assigned by the Varsity Wrestling Coach or Athletic Director.
