About The Position

This position is a dual role, serving as an Assistant Women's Lacrosse Coach with a 9-month appointment and an Events Coordinator with a 10-month appointment. The Assistant Coach will support the daily operations of a Division III intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse program, focusing on planning, recruiting, coaching, and program administration. Responsibilities include team travel, equipment management, and fundraising. The Events Coordinator will manage all aspects of home events and special departmental events, as well as assist in managing Athletic Facilities. This role requires effective communication to ensure high-quality home event environments for all intercollegiate teams and involves irregular work hours, including nights, weekends, and some holidays. A valid driver's license is required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Experience playing or coaching lacrosse at high school, club, or collegiate level.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Experience with or demonstrated knowledge of event management.
  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills.
  • Ability to foster a cooperative work environment.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States at the time of hire and maintain work authorization throughout the employment term.

Nice To Haves

  • Demonstrated experience in college recruiting.
  • One to three years’ experience in facility or event management.
  • Knowledge of NCAA Division III and WIAC rules.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the management of daily operations of a Division III intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse program.
  • Assist in the planning, recruiting, coaching, developing, implementing, and administering of the women’s lacrosse program.
  • Perform administrative tasks associated with running an intercollegiate women’s lacrosse program, including planning team travel, managing equipment and/or video and technology needs, and coordinating fundraising and camps.
  • Display professional conduct and sportsmanship.
  • Administer all aspects of home events and special departmental events.
  • Assist in managing the Athletic Facilities.
  • Effectively communicate with all staff members to create the highest quality home event environment for the 21 intercollegiate teams, including all post-season events.
  • Use expert technical knowledge of the sport of women’s lacrosse to assist in the development and coaching of a successful program.
  • Assist in the organization and conduct of all practice sessions, conditioning, and other sport-related workouts.
  • Provide coaching to the student-athletes during the conduct of all home and away competitions.
  • Provide supervision and support to the student-athletes during travel to away events.
  • Assist in the provision of a leadership/mentor role among student-athletes, assistant coaches, and other support staff.
  • Work closely with the athletic training staff to ensure the health and safety of student-athletes.
  • Encourage and promote excellence in academics from student-athletes.
  • Responsible for the coaching and development of the student workers.
  • On occasion may need to drive on behalf of the University.
  • Adhere to all rules of the NCAA, WIAC, and the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse.
  • Participate in the making of travel arrangements, including transportation, lodging, and meals.
  • Assist the Head Coach in the performance of public relations and fundraising duties as needed.
  • Assist in ensuring program compliance with all NCAA, and University rules.
  • Assist with social media, fundraising, and all other duties as assigned.
  • Attend athletic department meetings, appropriate conference and/or NCAA meetings, and job-related clinics and conferences.
  • Assist in the effort to recruit quality student-athletes and travel to evaluate prospective student-athletes.
  • Assist in the provision of all correspondence with prospective student-athletes, coaches, and parents.
  • Work with the Assistant Athletic Director for Facilities & Events and head coaches in advance of respective seasons to determine game day needs.
  • Recruit, hire, train, schedule and supervise all needed home event staff, including ticket sellers, gate workers, announcers, scorekeepers, clock workers, timers and video board operators.
  • Arrange for payment of all personnel.
  • Hire, train, schedule, and supervise all student event staff and student volunteers for all home events.
  • Serve as advance point of contact and day-of-competition host for all visiting teams.
  • Make arrangements for all necessary facility use (competition site, meeting rooms, locker rooms, equipment room, training room, etc.).
  • Serve as liaison with custodial staff, physical plant, recreational sports and other campus units to ensure proper set-up and usage of game day facilities.
  • Oversee facility set-up; supervise student facility managers in regards to game day responsibilities.
  • Oversee season and day-of-contest ticket sales.
  • Communicate and uphold ticket policies, including those related to group ticket sales, reduced ticket prices, and complimentary admissions for student-athletes.
  • Coordinate all group ticketing.
  • Reconcile ticket sales, prepare deposit information, and maintain appropriate financial and analytical records.
  • Serve as the on-site manager at all home events and attend to all related event issues (e.g., crowd control, troubleshooting equipment etc.).
  • In consultation with the Marketing Coordinator, implement all game day ticket promotions and special event promotions.
  • Coordinate and implement tailgating plans and oversee for the duration of the event.
  • Oversee and staff game day music, create proper game day scripts and coordinate additional efforts as needed.
  • Schedule and oversee guest performers at events including but not limited to national anthem performers, dance & hip hop teams, special groups etc.
  • Schedule, supervise and evaluate all ESS 320 students who are completing their field experience within the department.
  • Assist with the over site and development of weekly task lists for the departmental intern.
  • Create game management protocols and end-of-the-year reports.
  • Other duties as assigned by Director of Athletics, Deputy Director of Athletics, or Assistant Athletic Director for Facilities & Events.
