About The Position

Penn State Abington has an immediate opening for a part-time Assistant Women's Basketball Coach. Penn State Abington is a member of the NCAA Division III and the United East Conference. This is a part-time opening that reports to the Head Women's Basketball Coach and the Director of Athletics.

Requirements

  • Experience in coaching at the college level or significant experience coaching at the high school or club level, or equivalent required and/or collegiate playing experience.
  • Ability to assist with recruiting outstanding student-athletes to a strong academic environment.
  • Ability to effectively teach and coach students in both a team and individual setting.
  • A commitment to being a positive role model and leadership with integrity.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively interact with a wide variety of people in a manner that positively portrays the College.
  • Adherence to all NCAA, United East, and Penn State policies and procedures.
  • PA State Police Criminal Background Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance Form, and Federal (FBI) Fingerprint Criminal Background Check.
  • A valid driver’s license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to standard background checks.

Responsibilities

  • Helping the Head Coach with organizing all aspects of the women’s basketball program.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of, and ability to develop, sport skills, strategies and philosophy.
  • Promotes student-athlete welfare and provides appropriate mentoring to student-athletes.
  • Participate in team travel according to established policies and procedures.
  • Effectively communicates within the Head Coach and within the department of athletics on matters pertaining to program.
  • Assist with the management of the team’s commitment to NCAA and United East Conference regulations.
