Reporting to the Wellness Editor, the ideal candidate is plugged into the world of health and wellness — and brimming with ideas. You must be a self-starter who can juggle a mix of reporting, writing and editing, working under deadline while still maintaining close attention to detail. We’re seeking a journalist who can translate complex health data into buzzy, tabloid-style hits without sacrificing accuracy, while also keeping a lookout for the next wellness trend no one’s covered yet.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of experience as an editor in an online news environment, ideally with a focus on health and wellness
  • Proficiency in digital strategy, analytics and SEO best practices and tools
  • Experience managing and mentoring reporters of varying experience levels
  • Excellent judgment as to what drives audiences across various digital platforms
  • A genuine interest in health, wellness and lifestyle topics, with a commitment to providing accurate and valuable information to readers
  • Ability to work a full-time M-F 10–6 schedule

Responsibilities

  • Write and publish about one story a day. These will include quick hits like a summary of a new health study or a service-driven article, plus lengthier pieces on trends and case studies.
  • Develop both faster turnaround and longer-lead features. For example, you might talk to someone in a pharmaceutical class-action suit for a newsy exclusive like this story , or you could talk to multiple case studies and doctors for a trend piece like this one .
  • Assist the Wellness Editor in editing stories by Wellness Reporters.
  • Help execute brand partnerships, including liaising with brand representatives, writing copy, and seeing content through the print production process.
  • Think strategically about the daily news cycle to identify stories that will generate traffic, drive engagement and generally get people talking.
  • Understand The Post’s voice and point of view to most effectively reach readers with important and relevant information about their health.
