About The Position

The Assistant Warehouse Manager assists the Warehouse Manager in leading warehouse activities to support cost-effective in-home deliveries, strong operational execution, accurate inventory controls, and support of store associates. Supervision Received Direct reporting and supervision from the Warehouse Manager. Additional supervision given by the Regional Manager and Regional Operations Manager. Supervision Given Leadership role for warehouse associates, delivery teams, delivery scheduler, service/shop technicians through effective training, coaching, and communication. Essential Functions Learning to train and supervise warehouse furniture technicians and warehouse associatesConducting performance reviews for all above-listed associates Learning new programs and helping to shape the warehouse environment by setting, upholding, and reinforcing Bassett’s values, standards, and practices. Holds associates accountable to the same standards Learning new programs and practices effectively and in a timely manner to support stores and customers, at the direction of the Regional Manager, Regional Operations Manager, and/or Warehouse Manager Overseeing daily delivery operations to ensure showroom-quality furniture is delivered to customers Being responsible and accountable for receiving, storage, counting, accuracy, movement, and security of inventory Being responsible and accountable for the security of the building, delivery trucks, and service vehicles Ensuring all safety and personal protective equipment is properly maintained and used by associates as required Learning responsibility for complete safety training before any associate lifts or loads merchandise, drives, or operates company-owned vehicles or equipment Maintaining standards for the warehouse (interior and exterior), offices, and company-owned vehicles, while adhering to safety and efficiency guidelines Being responsible for maintenance of all company vehicles Having or learning the ability to perform the work of a furniture technician or warehouse associate when necessary Performing other related duties or special projects as assigned

Requirements

  • At least 2 years of experience in warehouse operations with supervisory responsibilities
  • Valid driver’s license and a maintained clear and safe driving record
  • Radio Frequency (RF) inventory scanning experience
  • Scheduling and routing software experience
  • Organizational and time management skills
  • Commitment to Bassett’s Vision and Values at all times

  • Ability to: Work in an organized and safety conscious manner
  • Work within a team with an enthusiastic attitude
  • Effectively communicate with customers, co-workers, and management
  • Read, understand and write the English language
  • Utilize Windows-based software, including Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Understand technical aspects related to warehouse operations, purchasing, receiving, and inventory
  • Work accurately with numbers, bar codes, and computer-generated worksheets
  • Drive a company vehicle and maintain a valid driver’s license with a good driving record
  • Navigate and utilize applicable Bassett systems, such as STORIS, Bnet, Dispatch Track, BU Online, etc.
  • Occasionally lift and/or pull up to 70 pounds
  • Occasionally bend or reach overhead
  • Walk, stand, sit, use hands and fingers, handle or feel objects, use and/or control tools, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, talk and hear, and see up close, in color, depth and distance vision, as well as the ability to focus.
