Assistant Warehouse Manager
About The Position
The Assistant Warehouse Manager plays a critical role in supporting the overall operations and management of the warehouse facility to ensure efficient, safe, and accurate handling of inventory and shipments. This position is responsible for assisting in the supervision of warehouse staff, coordinating daily activities, and maintaining compliance with company policies and safety regulations. The Assistant Warehouse Manager works closely with the Warehouse Manager to optimize workflow, improve processes, and meet operational goals. This role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Ultimately, the Assistant Warehouse Manager contributes to the seamless functioning of the warehouse, supporting timely delivery and customer satisfaction.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s degree or higher in logistics, supply chain management, or related field preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years experience in warehouse operations or logistics, with at least 1 year in a supervisory or leadership role.
- Basic knowledge of warehouse management systems (WMS) and inventory control procedures.
- Familiarity with OSHA safety regulations and warehouse safety best practices.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
Nice To Haves
- Bachelor’s degree in logistics, supply chain management, business administration, or related discipline.
- Experience with advanced warehouse management software and ERP systems.
- Certification in logistics or supply chain management (e.g., APICS, CSCMP).
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams and manage projects effectively.
- Experience in continuous improvement methodologies such as Lean or Six Sigma.
Responsibilities
- Assist in overseeing daily warehouse operations including receiving, storage, inventory management, and shipping activities.
- Supervise, train, and motivate warehouse staff to ensure productivity and adherence to safety standards.
- Coordinate with logistics, procurement, and customer service teams to facilitate smooth supply chain operations.
- Monitor inventory levels and conduct regular audits to maintain accuracy and prevent stock discrepancies.
- Implement and enforce safety protocols to maintain a safe working environment for all employees.
- Support the Warehouse Manager in developing and executing operational strategies and process improvements.
- Prepare and maintain reports related to warehouse performance, staffing, and inventory status.
- Address and resolve operational issues promptly to minimize disruptions and maintain workflow continuity.
