About The Position

Detroit Community Schools is hiring an Assistant Volleyball Coach for their High School program. The school's mission is to provide students with the tools and skills necessary to thrive, prioritizing preparation for life after K-12 through rigorous curriculum, SAT prep, and extracurricular activities. This role involves supporting the head coach in leading a competitive volleyball program, focusing on athlete development and fostering a positive team environment.

Requirements

• Previous experience coaching volleyball at the high school, club, or college level.
• Strong knowledge of the rules, strategies, and techniques of volleyball.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
• Ability to motivate and inspire student-athletes.
• Commitment to fostering a supportive and educational athletic environment.

Nice To Haves

• CPR and First Aid certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist the head coach in planning and conducting practice sessions and games.
• Help develop and implement strategies and game plans.
• Provide individualized coaching and mentorship to student-athletes to enhance skills and performance.
• Assist in the recruitment of prospective student-athletes.
• Ensure adherence to safety and sportsmanship standards during all practices and competitions.
• Monitor the academic performance of student-athletes and support their educational development.
• Coordinate logistics, including travel, equipment, and scheduling, in conjunction with the head coach and athletic department.
• Foster a positive, inclusive, and competitive team environment.
