About The Position

The Assistant Volleyball Coach will assist the head coach in promoting sports within the school and community, planning the athletic program, and supervising practices. This role involves teaching individual skills, team strategy, and the rules of the game, while also emphasizing good sportsmanship and self-control. The assistant coach will also help check participant eligibility, provide guidance and support to student athletes, and recommend necessary equipment purchases.

Requirements

• Fundamentals of various sports.
• Health and safety regulations.
• Interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy.
• Understand and follow oral and written directions.
• Read, interpret, apply and explain rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
• Lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Kentucky State Statutes and Kentucky Administrative Regulations as may be found appropriate and acceptable by the Board of Education.

Responsibilities

• Assists in promoting sports in the school and community.
• Assists the head coach in planning the athletic program.
• Assists the head coach in organizing and supervising practices.
• Assists the head coach in teaching individual fundamental skills, team plan, team strategy and rules and regulations of the game.
• Assists the head coach in teaching good sportsmanship and self control.
• Assists in checking eligibility of participants, including insurance coverage and parent consent.
• Assists students by providing a proper role model, emotional support, patience, a friendly attitude and general guidance.
• Conducts learning experiences, under the direction of the coaches, with small groups of student athletes.
• Recommends the purchase of equipment, supplies and uniforms as appropriate for the health, safety and welfare of student athletes.
• Performs related duties as assigned.
• Adheres to school board policies and administrative procedures.
• Adheres to the state Professional Code of Ethics.
• Demonstrates punctuality and good attendance for all duties.
