About The Position

Mazama High School is seeking an Assistant Volleyball Coach. This role requires adherence to all Oregon School Activities Association (OSAA) and Klamath County School District (KCSD) training and certification requirements, including CPR and First Aid. The position involves ensuring student safety and security, managing equipment and facilities, and maintaining clear communication with staff, athletes, and media. The coach will uphold district and school policies, supervise assistant coaches and athletes, and promote a positive and successful athletic program.

Requirements

  • Must complete all OSAA and Klamath County School District required trainings and certifications.
  • Must obtain a CPR and First Aid Training Certificates.
  • Physical ability to adhere to OSHA and district safety regulations.
  • Work within the district’s communicable disease control plan (blood borne pathogens).
  • Be aware of the existence and potential exposure to hazardous chemicals as identified on the MSDS sheets.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of, and adherence to, district and school philosophy and policies.
  • Has sufficient knowledge of the skills necessary for athletes to experience success.
  • Can demonstrate and teach the skills necessary for athletes to have the opportunity to experience success.
  • Institutes a program of ongoing physical and mental conditioning, and instills in the athlete the need and importance of properly preparing for their sport.
  • Takes all necessary steps to prepare self and athletes mentally and physically, for game situations.
  • Assures that all necessary steps are taken to prevent injuries and has adequate training and/or trained assistants to deal with the care of injuries that may occur.

Responsibilities

  • Complete all OSAA and Klamath County School District required trainings and certifications.

  • Ensure student safety and security.
  • Maintain accurate inventories and arrange for proper issuance and cleaning of equipment.
  • Maintain facilities and equipment in a usable and safe manner, reporting issues to the supervisor.
  • Keep staff informed of duties at practices and contests.
  • Set up well-organized practice schedules adhering to district and state policy and regulations.
  • Maintain good communication with the entire coaching staff.
  • Maintain good communication with media.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of and adherence to district and school philosophy and policies by maintaining accurate and timely eligibility reports, inventories, budgets, rosters, and accident/injury reports, insurance documentation and physical exam validations.
  • Supervise assistant coaches to ensure they are aware of their responsibilities and maintain required standards.
  • Supervise athletes to ensure they are aware of practice and game responsibilities, rules, strategy, goals, and inherent risks of the sport.
  • Ensure all teams represent their school with conduct and appearance beyond reproach.
  • Instill a playing style and attitude that causes teams to actively seek success.
  • Emphasize the importance of good scholarship and sportsmanship, following up on individual progress and providing assistance.
  • Represent the team and school in a professional manner, constructively resolving differences with officials, staff, coaches, and parents.
