About The Position

The Assistant Vice Principal (AVP) supports the Vice Principal and Principal in managing the daily operations of a school, ensuring a safe, productive, and positive learning environment. This role is crucial in bridging the gap between teachers, students, and administration while helping to shape the school’s academic and disciplinary standards.

Requirements

• 5-10 teaching + leadership experience (e.g., department lead).
• Strong leadership and decision-making.
• Excellent communication and conflict resolution.
• Organizational and problem-solving abilities.
• Knowledge of Ministry of Education laws and regulations.
• Strong understanding of Ontario curriculum, assessment (e.g., Growing Success), and MAC Tarbiya Values.

Nice To Haves

• Master’s degree in Education Administration/Leadership or equivalent (highly preferred).

Responsibilities

• Assist in developing and implementing school policies and procedures.
• Manage student records, attendance, and scheduling.
• Oversee standardized testing and academic reporting.
• Coordinate with staff, parents, and district administrators.
• Enforce school rules and handle disciplinary actions.
• Mediate conflicts between students, teachers, or parents.
• Promote a positive school culture through behavior intervention programs.
• Assist in curriculum planning and teacher evaluations.
• Monitor classroom instruction and provide feedback to teachers.
• Support special education programs and student accommodations.
• Mentor and support teachers and staff.
• Help organize professional development workshops.
• Participate in hiring and performance reviews.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
• Lead emergency preparedness drills (fire, lockdown, etc.).
• Address bullying, harassment, and other student welfare concerns.
• Communicate with parents regarding student progress and concerns.
• Attend school events, meetings, and parent-teacher conferences.
• Foster partnerships with community organizations.
