About The Position

State Street Alpha is seeking a technology-forward Assistant Vice President to modernize the technology, workflows and ways of working that underpin Alpha delivery. The role supports Alpha’s evolution toward a connected, transparent and increasingly AI-powered System of Work, where teams collaborate openly, work is managed through a single source of truth, and automation reduces repetitive coordination so employees can focus on higher-value activities. Working across Alpha business teams, Technology, Automation, enterprise partners and strategic vendors, the AVP will assess current practices, identify opportunities to simplify and digitize work, evaluate technology solutions, and help implement scalable capabilities that improve productivity, transparency, quality and employee experience. The position combines strategic thinking with hands-on execution and helps build the foundation for Alpha’s next-generation operating model. The AVP will support technology ecosystem assessment and rationalization, platform strategy, structured build-versus-buy decisions, and evaluation of workflow, collaboration, knowledge management, automation, analytics and AI capabilities. The role will discover and document workflows, identify manual work and fragmented handoffs, build an inventory of modernization opportunities, and translate processes into governed digital workflows with clear triggers, outcomes, owners, dependencies, data and supporting knowledge. The position will identify and prioritize AI and automation opportunities, evaluate their value and scalability, support proofs of concept and pilots, and help determine where human judgment should remain. It will coordinate platform and vendor evaluations, establish requirements and scorecards, organize demonstrations and pilots, and monitor commitments and value realization while helping ensure Alpha retains ownership of requirements, architecture and outcomes. The AVP will establish workflow baselines, develop business cases and value assessments, define KPIs, and create executive dashboards and reporting. The role will drive initiatives from problem definition through assessment, solution design, pilot and implementation; coordinate business and enterprise stakeholders; maintain roadmaps and delivery plans; develop reusable standards and playbooks; and support adoption through communications, demonstrations, training and enablement. The role supports Alpha’s goal of a governed System of Work built on modern platforms, simplified operating models, embedded AI and automation, and standards, reuse, transparency and data-driven decision making.
