WSP USA is seeking an Assistant Vice President, Structural Engineering for our Boulder, CO location. This role provides subject matter technical support and leadership for transportation and infrastructure projects in the public and private sector. Responsibilities include research, design, concept development, planning, and construction of structural elements for bridges and transportation structures. The position involves providing situational guidance to address current and future challenges and ensuring responsibilities are delivered with a level of quality that meets or exceeds acceptable industry standards for design, safety, structural soundness, and functionality. The role applies high-level structural and civil engineering techniques to identify improvements across various infrastructure project phases, including complex transportation and infrastructure engineering work from concept development through operation. It involves performing professional structural engineering work, conducting complex investigations and inspections of bridges and transportation structures, and developing construction plans, specifications, and cost estimates. The Assistant Vice President will manage the design, construction, and rehabilitation of these structures, ensuring durability and structural soundness. This includes overseeing the development and implementation of advanced technologies, materials, modeling techniques, and design requirements to ensure safety and functionality, while also implementing future-ready solutions. The role entails leading larger-scale structural engineering projects, managing project budgets, monitoring external events, tracking hours and expenses, supervising subcontractors and employees, and ensuring satisfactory performance. Additionally, the position involves assisting with engineering review of permit applications, design plans, and construction inspections to ensure compliance with regulations and standards. It requires meeting with various entities to discuss engineering/construction challenges, preparing technical reports and presentations, and developing a client base for structural engineering services, including identifying business development opportunities and cross-selling WSP services. Mentoring staff for growth and professional development, staying current with industry practices, and collaborating with professionals from various disciplines and infrastructure authorities are also key aspects. The role demands responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company resources and adherence to WSP’s Code of Conduct. Additional responsibilities may be assigned based on business needs.
