About The Position

The Associated seeks a strategic, relationship-driven leader to guide human services planning and priorities across Jewish Baltimore. Reporting to the Chief Planning Officer and part of the Community Planning & Allocations team, the Assistant Vice President, Human Services Strategy will identify community needs, align resources, support funding decisions, and lead collaborative initiatives that create meaningful impact. This highly visible role works closely with agency executives, volunteer leaders, community partners, and colleagues across The Associated network to strengthen services for those who are most vulnerable.

Requirements

  • Exceptional emotional intelligence, interpersonal effectiveness, and relationship-building skills.
  • Deep knowledge of Jewish Baltimore, Jewish history, and Jewish traditions.
  • Strong facilitation, communication, synthesis, and strategic thinking skills.
  • Sound judgment, political acumen, and ability to navigate complexity with diplomacy.
  • Proven ability to move ideas from concept to implementation and drive results collaboratively.
  • Bachelor’s degree required.

Nice To Haves

  • 5-7 years of leadership experience in nonprofit, human services, philanthropy, community planning, public sector, or related fields.
  • Experience working with volunteer leaders, boards, committees, and multi-organization partnerships.
  • Experience supervising staff and using data, evaluation, or planning to inform decisions.
  • Master’s degree in a related field preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Identify emerging needs, trends, and opportunities across human services and related priority areas.
  • Translate data, research, and stakeholder input into clear strategies, recommendations, and action plans.
  • Help ensure investments and initiatives advance meaningful, measurable community outcomes.
  • Build trusted relationships with leaders across The Associated’s agency network.
  • Facilitate collaboration, align strategies, and strengthen coordination across organizations.
  • Serve as a connector, problem-solver, and thought partner to agency leadership.
  • Staff committees, task forces, and volunteer leadership groups.
  • Provide strategic guidance, facilitation, and professional support to lay leader partners.
  • Prepare clear, compelling materials for discussion and decision-making.
  • Contribute to funding recommendations and community investment strategies.
  • Assess needs, opportunities, and impact in partnership with agencies and stakeholders.
  • Present findings and recommendations to professional and volunteer leadership.
  • Lead collaborative initiatives, including supervision of AgeWell Baltimore and Jewish Economic Vulnerability strategies.
  • Drive implementation, partnership development, learning, and continuous improvement.
  • Supervise, mentor, and support team members in a collaborative, mission-driven environment.
