About The Position

WSP is seeking an Assistant Vice President, Environmental Water to join their Baton Rouge, LA office. This role will be involved in projects with the Texas/Louisiana Environmental Water Team, contributing to a growing organization that meets client objectives and solves challenges. The primary responsibility will be to lead project planning and execution, making key decisions for water resource solutions on water resources projects. The position involves collaboration with local teams and leveraging international expertise. The role requires working with water resource and environmental engineers, professionals, and permitting experts, and excelling at building client relationships to become a trusted partner. As the water team grows, this role will also help shape its future through team leadership and business development activities, including identifying potential clients, project opportunities, supporting pursuits, and developing proposals. The Assistant Vice President will also manage team members, supporting their career development and providing professional mentorship. WSP USA operates with a Hybrid-Workplace Model.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering, Hydrogeology, or Geology, with a focus in Water Resources or closely related discipline.
  • 10+ years of relevant post education experience in water resources engineering.
  • Engineer or geoscientist license required (LA required, TX preferred).
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to lead multidisciplinary teams, manage resources, and foster collaboration among stakeholders, subcontractors and team members.
  • Proficient knowledge of water engineering principles, practices and methods and their application to project work.
  • Well-defined knowledge of water systems planning, design, engineering, cost estimating, and project management.
  • Highly effective interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audience.
  • Demonstrated high-level of self-leadership with attention to detail, multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment.
  • Work independently with minimal oversight and provide guidance and leadership to junior to mid-level team or project members, with strict adherence to QA/QC.
  • Experienced with providing critical review for documents and preparing technical deliverables and plans with a high degree of complexity.
  • Well-developed critical thinking and problem-solving skills required to apply technical knowledge to reach conclusions from data, arriving at the most effective, economical, and logical solution.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness at coordinating and directing subcontractors and others to consistently complete tasks safely and efficiently.
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
  • Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Perform project management and professional design and analysis relating to hydraulic and hydrologic analysis, modeling, and design projects for water clients in the Texas and Louisiana area.
  • Oversee and monitor cross-functional teams, including a variety of specialty subconsultants, to execute projects including managing scope, schedule, and budgets, while building client and team relationships.
  • Coordinate, review and approval of hydraulic and hydrologic analysis, modeling, and design, ensuring data integrity and work is compliant with all applicable codes, ordinances, and regulations.
  • Interact with regulatory agencies, subcontractors, and clients in a confident and professional manner.
  • Collaborate with professionals from a variety of disciplines to provide future ready solutions for clients.
  • Be a people leader for water resource professionals in the Baton Rogue office, providing leadership, career development support and professional mentorship.
  • Support business development activities by identifying clients and projects, and support pursuit activities, including client meetings, proposal development and interviewing.
  • Be active in local professional organizations and remain current in latest water resources techniques.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
