About The Position

WSP is seeking an Assistant Vice President, Electrical Engineer for their Jacksonville, FL office to contribute to the growth of their Property & Buildings division. This role is ideal for a licensed Electrical Engineer with significant healthcare design experience in Florida, possessing both technical leadership and business development skills. The position involves active participation throughout the project lifecycle, with a focus on complex sectors like healthcare, pharmaceutical, life sciences, labs, and industrial manufacturing, from design to construction close-out. WSP is a global leader in MEP and related services for the built environment, working on high-profile national and international projects, including designing over 30 million square feet of medical facilities. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering
  • 10+ years of relevant post-education experience as an electrical engineer
  • Professional Engineering license required
  • Extensive knowledge of electrical design, particularly in the healthcare industry
  • Known in the local community with an extensive network
  • Proficient with electrical engineering principles, practices, process, design/build, and application to permitting and project work-related issues
  • Experience with electrical planning, design, and construction management, including renovation, new design, and construction projects
  • Well-defined specific knowledge of relevant engineering and electrical construction laws, codes, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements
  • Well-developed ability to make technical computations and calculations, understand plans and specifications, and compare them to regulations
  • Demonstrated effectiveness at coordinating and directing others to complete tasks safely and efficiently
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s Degree in Engineering
  • LEED AP Certification
  • Previous Healthcare or Laboratory design experience
  • At least 5+ years minimum of Project Management experience
  • 40-Hour OSHA Health & Safety Training (HAZWOPER) (29 CFR 1910.120) preferred
  • Basic First Aid and Adult CPR training desired

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate, review and approve electrical design plans, ensuring data integrity and compliance with codes, ordinances, and regulations.
  • Apply high-level electrical engineering techniques to identify improvements across project phases (concept, preliminary design, final design, procurement, construction, operation).
  • Plan and incorporate future-ready techniques, concept development, operating strategies, and design requirements for safety and functionality.
  • Manage the design and construction of electrical systems from project inception to completion.
  • Oversee and monitor cross-functional teams, managing budgets, hours, expenses, task completion, technical calculations, construction, documentation, and regulatory analysis for mid-level and/or multiple concurrent projects.
  • Prepare data and visualizations (tables, charts, reports, sketches, calculations, etc.) for complex data interpretation and presentation.
  • Prepare comprehensive technical reports and presentations on research, findings, concepts, and recommendations for design and construction issues/opportunities.
  • Manage client relationships and provide key technical input for pursuit efforts.
  • Develop relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources, and conduct, adhering to WSP’s Code of Conduct.
