About The Position

Reporting to the Head of Accounting Policy, the AVP, Accounting Policy will lead/assist in providing technical accounting oversight for Antares Holdings, third party funds, and BDCs and assist with other financial reporting initiatives for Antares. An ability to manage multiple tasks while working under strict time deadlines is essential. Our ideal candidate is independent, motivated, detail‐orientated and able to analyze data and convey conclusions effectively, with a strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or business
  • CPA with 6+ years of working experience, including public accounting experience; Big 4 preferred
  • Excellent accounting research and analytical skills
  • Strong U.S. GAAP knowledge, including a good understanding of financial instruments, transfers of financial assets, consolidation, investment management products, and structured transactions
  • Ability to plan and coordinate several tasks at one time, prioritize effectively, and set/achieve deadlines for key deliverables
  • Excellent communication skills - both oral and written
  • Demonstrated ability to efficiently and effectively work in team-oriented environment
  • Strong critical thinking and professional judgment
  • Ability to synthesize complex technical information into actionable guidance

Responsibilities

  • Assess the impact of evolving accounting standards and coordinate the implementation of new accounting pronouncements
  • Work cross-functionally with stakeholders, including the business, finance, structured products, asset management, legal, tax, operations and treasury on new business initiatives, documenting and communicating to management the accounting and reporting implications/needs and ensuring deliverables to such stakeholders are met
  • Review financial statements, including MD&A and footnotes, and lead disclosure checklist reviews, ensuring financial statements disclosures comply with GAAP requirements and in line with industry practice
  • Assist in the development of training on technical topics and presentation to the Company
  • For issues identified, communicate status to management and assist in their resolution
  • Lead interactions with the business and corporate functions to analyze significant/complex transactions and document the related accounting conclusions
  • Assist with developing accounting and reporting policies and periodically update policies as new guidance is issued
  • Discuss and review accounting conclusions with external auditors
  • Participate in industry group discussions to monitor emerging accounting issues
  • Lead, develop and maintain strong working relationships with key business decision makers throughout the company
  • Assist in projects to help refine procedures that will create uniformity across businesses
