About The Position

IPS is seeking an Assistant VDC Scanning Technician to join their team at their headquarters in Blue Bell, Pennsylvania. This role involves executing high-quality laser scanning operations across various project sites, requiring significant travel. The technician will need proficiency in the latest scanning technologies and software to ensure data collection meets safety, schedule, and quality standards. A key aspect of the role is transforming scans into valuable data, adhering to established quality control protocols, and contributing to the team's overall success.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's/Associate's/Technical degree in Engineering, Architecture, or related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
  • 1-3 years of experience in computer-assisted drafting, design, scanning, construction, surveying, civil, and VDC/BIM.
  • A strong interest in and aptitude for laser scanning technology, with the opportunity to gain solid in-field laser scanning experience through on-the-job training.
  • Ability to troubleshoot issues related to data quality and scanning equipment, ensuring the integrity and reliability of collected data.
  • A proactive approach to learning and adapting to new scanning technologies and methodologies, demonstrating a commitment to continuous professional development.
  • Exceptional organizational skills, with the capability to effectively manage tasks and priorities in a fast-paced project environment.
  • Strong communication skills, fostering effective collaboration with team members and contributing to a cohesive work environment.
  • Must have access to reliable transportation.
  • Must have the ability to travel and commute on a daily or routine basis.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in conducting comprehensive laser scanning operations at various construction and project sites, ensuring data is collected according to high standards and project specifications.
  • Develop expertise in cutting-edge scanning technologies and software, with a commitment to continuous learning and proficiency in the latest advancements in the field.
  • Assisting in upholding quality control protocols for scanning activities, ensuring the collected data is accurate, reliable, and meets all required quality standards.
  • Knowledge in operating Leica’s RTC 360.
  • Continued learning in the operation of Leica’s BLK2GO, Top Con’s Total Station, NavVis VLX, and any other scanning hardware.
  • Learn and provide support to Data Processing Technicians as needed, facilitating a collaborative workflow between field data collection and data processing to manage workloads effectively.
