About The Position

Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University is seeking an Assistant Track and Field Coach specializing in pole vault to join the Intercollegiate Athletics team at our Daytona Beach Campus. The Assistant Coach will support the organization and implementation of the Track and Field program, with a primary focus on developing pole vault student-athletes. This position will provide technical instruction, assist with recruiting and retention efforts, monitor academic progress, and help student-athletes succeed in competition, in the classroom, and in their personal development.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Up to one year of related athletic experience.
  • Knowledge of pole vault skills, techniques, and competitive strategies.
  • Ability to lead, motivate, develop, and coach student-athletes at the collegiate level.
  • Ability to recruit qualified student-athletes successfully.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, exercise sound judgment, and work effectively with students, colleagues, and university leadership.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous collegiate playing or coaching experience.
  • Knowledge and understanding of NCAA bylaws, rules, and regulations.
  • Experience supporting athletic camps, clinics, recruiting initiatives, public relations, or fundraising activities.

Responsibilities

  • Provide instruction to pole vault student-athletes on the fundamentals, techniques, and strategies of competition.
  • Organize, implement, and support effective practice plans.
  • Recruit and retain highly skilled, academically qualified student-athletes for the Track and Field program.
  • Monitor and support the academic progress of team members.
  • Promote the NCAA’s Life in the Balance platform and its ideals of learning, balance, resourcefulness, sportsmanship, passion, and service.
  • Assist with workshops, summer camps, clinics, and other activities that promote the Track and Field program.
  • Maintain and manage team equipment.
  • Support recruiting, public relations, and fundraising efforts through effective written and verbal communication.
  • Supervise student-athletes and student assistants as appropriate.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
