Under the direction of the Town Attorney, this role engages in and prosecutes civil and misdemeanor violations in the Oro Valley Town Court and other courts as necessary. The position involves conducting legal research, preparing legal reports and opinions, and appearing in court for criminal prosecution. Responsibilities include creating plea offer and other lists for the office, applying extensive knowledge and skills in carrying out broad operations, projects, and work assignments. The role requires meeting with the Court, attorneys, victims, defendants, civilians, witnesses, police officers, and police administration to discuss criminal law matters. It also involves participation in prosecution investigation, file review, charging, dismissals, case preparation, trial work, appeals, and legislative analysis. The position requires planning, organizing, implementing, and seeking alternative approaches to prosecution activities and administrative functions. Additionally, it involves preparing and providing training related to prosecution activities for police officers and other prosecutors and staff, as well as working with and overseeing the daily prosecution work of assigned staff. Maintaining professional licensing, including attending CLE hours and professional organization events, is also a responsibility. The role includes reviewing legislation and professional articles affecting criminal prosecution.
