Assistant Textile Print Designer (Hanky Panky)
About The Position
Dreamwear is a wholesale intimate apparel and sleepwear company that partners with various brands, including Danskin, Nautica, Juicy Couture, Laura Ashley, and Nicole Miller. They have recently partnered with Hanky Panky, an iconic brand known for its comfort and feminine design, particularly its signature lace collections. The Print team at Dreamwear is responsible for creating original artwork and bringing new ideas to life for the design team. They are seeking an Assistant Textile Print Designer to join their team, who will be comfortable working on prints for multiple fabric types across various product categories such as bras, panties, lingerie, sleep, and loungewear. The ideal candidate should be passionate, self-motivated, eager to learn, and capable of executing the essential responsibilities of the role. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of the Hanky Panky brand from the beginning of the partnership.
Requirements
- 3 months - 1.5 years of experience in textile design (internship experience ok)
- Degree in Textile Design or related field
- Strong illustrative hand, painting skills & color sense
- Working knowledge of Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop
- Ability to prioritize and manage deadlines
- Strong attention to detail and time management skills
- Motivated self-starter with a desire to learn
- Passionate about print design, with a great eye for color, design, and trend
Responsibilities
- Support Print Designer in creating original prints and graphics from concept through pre-production in a fast-paced environment.
- Communicate effectively with Print Designer, ask questions when necessary, and apply recently gained information on future projects.
- Research emerging print/graphic concepts and trends for inspiration with input from Print Designer.
- Proactively gain understanding of production constraints for factory ready artwork and repeats.
- Assist Designer with strike off comments.
- Continually practice illustration, repeats, and techniques to improve technical and brand understanding.
