About The Position

The Assistant Technician, Equipment Reliability performs a limited variety of skilled tasks in the maintenance of equipment regarding lubrication including contamination control, inspection, and proactive maintenance. Under guidance, troubleshoots and maintains the lubrication in equipment. Assists with ultrasound and vibration data collection.

Requirements

• Two (2) years of experience in a heavy industrial environment.
• High School diploma or General Education Development (GED) certificate.
• Must be computer literate, proficient in the use of Windows, Microsoft Office, and the Internet.
• Utilizes the Maximo Computerize Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to create, document, record labor, and logs.
• Qualified to operate lifting equipment (fork truck, skip hoist etc.) within 11 months of hire.
• Must possess and maintain a valid Motor Vehicle Operating License.
• Subject to indoor/outdoor environmental conditions that include exposure to extreme cold and/or hot temperatures.
• Subject to noise, vibration, and to hazards from a variety of physical conditions.
• Subject to atmospheric conditions that affect the respiratory system or skin such as fumes, odors, dust, mists, gases, chemicals, sewage, activated sludge, lubricants, and other cutting fluids and requires wearing personal protective equipment.
• Work is performed in a heavy industrial environment, at pumping and treatment locations, in biologically contaminated underground facilities, including wet wells, electrical manholes, treatment process tanks, around spiders, rodents and mosquitoes, and on high places such as roofs, cranes, catwalks, and towers.
• Must meet the physical demands of confined space entry.
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
• Must be able to climb a ladder.

Nice To Haves

• Technical school leading to an associate degree is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Basic understanding of oil and grease appurtenances and related best practices, perform PM of equipment, follows the shop oil SOP, collect and labels oil for outside analysis.
• Performs (with assistance and instruction) draining and cleaning of reservoirs, changes oil, documenting incorrect oil levels, changing filters and desiccant driers on reservoirs and any anomalies.
• Collects data (with assistance and instruction) for ultrasound and vibration and uploads to database.
• Performs (with assistance and instructions) review of OEM service manual, and lubrication recommendations.
• Good oral and written communications skills.
• Must have good interpersonal skills, good planning and organizing skills, and a high degree of self-motivation.
• Use of a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) for work execution and documentation.
• Performs other duties and projects as required at the discretion of the immediate supervisor.
