About The Position

Kate Spade New York is a global lifestyle brand that designs extraordinary things for the everyday, delivering seasonal collections of handbags, ready-to-wear, jewelry, footwear, home décor, and more. As part of the Tapestry portfolio, the brand is committed to innovation and inclusivity. The successful individual will leverage their proficiency in the Handbag Design Department to understand deliverables and meet deadlines for creating and passing product specs for all stages of development, from concept through production. This role involves collaborating with Design, PD, and Merchandising teams, ensuring accuracy in sketches and dimensions, assisting with final product spec updates, maintaining consistency across factories and seasons, reviewing post-market samples, and contributing to digital libraries and research. The role also includes assisting with CAD and artwork creation, as well as presentation and workroom organization.

Requirements

strong communication and email skills
detailed note taking & organizational skills
college degree in fashion design or a related field
illustrator and photoshop experience required
Microsoft Excel experience a plus

construction knowledge preferred
flexibility to work in-office, as needed, based on development calendar
Substance 3D experience a plus
Raspberry AI, Adobe Firefly AI, or other product Design AI experience a plus

Responsibilities

Responsible for working with the Design, PD, and Merchandising teams to understand deliverables and meet deadlines for creating and passing product specs for all stages of development - concept through production.
Work collaboratively with the designer to ensure that all specs created reflect the intentions of that designer.
Ensure accuracy of all information captured in specs by self-checking sketches & dimensions.
Assist Tech Designer & Sr Tech Designer in executing final product spec updates and corrections for that season, ensuring that any and all changes to the product after market are approved by the design team.
Assist in making sure that product specs are consistent across all factories and all seasons.
Assist in the review and correction of post-market samples.
Assist in the creation & maintenance of digital Design detail & standards libraries.
Assist in research of product functionality trends across market.
Assist in CAD & artwork creation in Illustrator & Photoshop, as needed.
Assist in presentation organization, set up, & clean up.
Assist in Design workroom organization & maintenance.
