The School of Criminal Justice, Forensic Science and Security (CJFSS) at The University of Southern Mississippi is seeking an Assistant Teaching Professor or Instructor of Forensic Science. This interdisciplinary school serves over 500 undergraduate students across degree programs in Crime Scene Investigation, Forensic Biology, Forensic Chemistry, and Criminal Justice. CJFSS also offers undergraduate minors in Forensic Science, Criminal Justice, and Security Studies, and a fully online graduate program in Criminal Justice. The school is located in the newly renovated Paul H. "Bud" Holmes Criminal Justice Building, which boasts over 30,000 square feet of modern teaching and research laboratories, classrooms, and a mock courtroom. The curriculum for Crime Scene Investigation, Forensic Biology, and Forensic Chemistry programs is designed to equip students with a broad range of forensic techniques applicable in various settings. Students receive theoretical knowledge and practical, hands-on experience in areas such as drug identification, serology and DNA analysis, fingerprint analysis, crime scene documentation, firearms identification, arson and explosives investigation, forensic photography, courtroom testimony, and footwear analysis.
