About The Position

Villa Montessori is seeking a Full-Time Toddler Assistant Teacher or Substitute Assistant Teacher to join their team in Leesburg, VA. This role offers an opportunity to build a career in early childhood education within a global childcare community. The position involves providing an authentic Montessori experience, fostering child development, independence, confidence, and a strong sense of community. The role requires ensuring child safety, supporting the lead teacher, working with children individually and in small groups, responding to children's needs, communicating with parents, and maintaining the classroom environment and materials.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 1+ years’ experience working in a licensed childcare facility preferred.
  • Ability to multitask and remain organized.
  • Ability to work within regular operating hours.
  • Must meet state criteria for childcare employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree in early childhood development or related field.
  • Familiarity with the Montessori approach to education.
  • Responsible Team Player/Cooperative

Responsibilities

  • Ensuring the safety and supervision of children ages 16 months – 6 years.
  • Assist and support the lead teacher with supervision of children in the classroom while fostering an environment that will allow children to develop at their own pace.
  • Work with individual and small groups of children as directed by the lead teacher.
  • Create a rapport with the children and be responsive to their needs, guiding them through self-directed activities.
  • Maintain open lines of communication with parents to answer questions.
  • Responsible for the care and maintenance of the classroom, teaching materials and equipment.
